Part 6: Back to Basics. Board Game Design is Hard

Part 6: ““An idea, like a ghost, must be spoken to a little before it will explain itself.” (Charles Dickens, Dombey and Son)

We were delighted with our first prototype, but it didn’t take us long to realise 2 things:
1) Designing a board game is hard!
2) We were missing some pizzazz!
We were knocked back to reality. We had creative brain freeze!

We let the game sit for some months, before we grouped together later that Christmas. And the spark was reignited…the introduction of Ghost Cards, Nightmares and Steal streets were just a few additions that created the immersive board game experience we were looking for!
